KYDEX thermoform sheets, such as this one, are very similar to both Holstex and Boltaron in terms of the way they form when heated and molded around an object. Once cooled, this material will retain the shape of the item used to mold it into place. In its cooled state, it is highly durable and lightweight. Included with this KYDEX sheet are detailed instructions from HolsterSmith on how to properly thermoform the material. To use, simply score and cut a piece slightly larger than the object being covered, heat the material to 300-375 degrees Fahrenheit, and then place it over the object. Using forming foam, press the material around the object and allow it to cool in position. Once cooled, remove and sand the edges to the desired shape.
